Nana Patekar will be Voicing of Sher Khan in “The Jungle Book”


In the 1990’s, there was a Hindi animated Serial on Doordarshan ‘The Jungle Book’ which was a story of the orphan boy ‘Mowgli’ who lost in Indian forest and raised by a Bear, Wolves and Black Panther. ‘Jungle Jungle Baat Chali Hai Pata Chala Hai, Chaddi Pahan ke Phul Khila Hai’ was the popular title song. That time Nana Patekar lend voice of Sher Khan, the fierce Bengal tiger in ‘The Jungle Book’.

Disney has made a live action movie in English based on the same ‘The Jungle Book’, which was the novel written by English author Rudyard Kipling. Mowgli is played by an Indian boy living in US, Neel Sethi. The movie has many Hollywood stars like Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o and Scarlett Johansson lending their voice for the important roles of Balu, Bagheera, Sher Khan, Raksha and Kaa etc.

So when Disney decided to dub it in Hindi, They turned to the original Sher Khan, Nana Patekar. So Nana once again will be voicing Sher Khan (Bengal Tiger) after almost 20 years. Rest of the Indian voice artist include Priyanka Chopra (Kaa, a Phython), Om Puri (Bagheera, Black Panther), Irfan Khan (Balu, Bear) and Shefali Chhaya (Raksha, Wolf).

‘The Jungle Book Releases in India on 8 April, so go and watch Nana perform once again as Sher Khan.
