Yoga guru Ramdeo Baba’s Patanjali Yogpeeth is scouting for land in Nagpur for setting up a food park.
Sources related to the development say it is part of the Patanjali Yogpeeth’s expansion plans for its FMCG business. The Yogpeeth has a manufacturing unit at Hardwar.
The business venture promoted by the Yoga guru has recently launched noodles in the market, apart from being involved in production of a host of consumer products.
Acharya Balkrishna, the close confidant of Ramdeo Baba, had visited Nagpur last week. He also visited Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) office inquiring about availability of land in the Mihan-SEZ.
Sources say the Yogpeeth wants around 250 acres of land both in SEZ as well as domestic tariff area. However, it may be too early to conclude. It was expressed that it may be a profitable proposition in acquiring land in the SEZ, if tax sops available in the zone are counted. However, the land cost appeared to be on the higher side in non-SEZ area under MADC.
The Yogpeeth wants land at lower rates so that it can come up with competitive pricing for its products. In Mihan SEZ, land is available for 60 lakh an acre and 1 crore per acre in domestic tariff area.
