Ravi Jadhav Multi Talented Marathi Film Director, Screenwriter, Storyteller
Ravi Jadhav is an Indian Ad-man and commercial writer turned film director. He has written and directed several award winning TVCs throughout the years. His promising directorial debut ‘Natrang’ released in 2010 won him a National Award and many more accolades & recognitions in Indian as well as foreign film festivals. The film was appreciated by audiences as well as critics for its sterling narration, music and the story that was based on the theatre art form called ‘Tamasha’.
His second film ‘Balgandharva’ was a periodic saga of one of the greatest Marathi singers and stage actors Narayan Shripad Rajhans. The film was a successful box office hit and was widely appreciated for its excellent cinematic beauty. It won three National Awards and was screened in various countries and festivals abroad.
His third film ‘BP’ (Balak-Palak) focused on a more social and educational subject, that dealt with the transformation of adolescents into teenagers. ‘BP’ is a slang used for pornography in India, and thus the story focuses on four unspoiled kids set on a journey to find out answers of the most unfeigned questions about sex. By entering an all new genre, he proved his excellence of handling the sensitive yet bold subject at hand so delicately with a touch of humour. The film was loved by parents as well as children as it was a brilliant entertainer leaving behind a powerful message.
His next film ‘Timepass’ was a cinematic ode to the tender concept of first love. The film was a romantic comedy drama about teenage love set in a backdrop of the 90’s. The film was one of the greatest hits Marathi film fraternity had ever seen and broke all Box-office records becoming one of the highest grosser till date.
Apart from producing films, ‘REGE’ was Ravi Jadhav’s first project taken up as a Presenter. The directorial debut by Abhijit Panse revolves around the story of a young boy’s involvement with anti-social elements. The film was commercially successful and critically acclaimed
His latest projects include a film called ‘Coffee Ani Barach Kahi’ which will be releasing under his banner as a Presenter. One more upcoming project would be ‘Bioscope’ that showcases four short stories, ‘Mitraa’ being one of it which is directed by Ravi Jadhav. Narrated by the renowned Bollywood poet and lyricist ‘Gulzar’, Mitraa focuses on the challenges faced by LGBT community & their struggle to find space in India post independence.
Ravi resides in Thane, and also owns a production company called ‘Ravi Jadhav Films’ and an Ad Agency called ‘Aathansh Communications’ along with his wife Meghana, who co-produces most of Ravi’s films.
